We mourn the loss of Martin Zurmühle, our valued colleague and friend, who passed away on 18 March after a serious illness. As a member of the PHOTOSUISSE committee Martin was responsible for our contact with the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP) until the end of 2023. It is difficult to put Martin’s life and work into words. Martin was more than just a dedicated photographer: he had the vision of an image with its structure and form in mind. As a mentor and book author, he inspired many people to take up photography, not only imparting his knowledge but also stimulating his readers’ own creativity. At Vier-Augen Verlag, the publishing house he founded, he published numerous textbooks that have since become part of the standard repertoire of specialised literature and are highly valued by many readers. He has imparted his extensive knowledge in many seminars, including at Fotoschule.biz, which he founded, where he even introduced his own photography diploma course, which he wisely passed on to Miriam Bennouna. Last year he achieved the EFIAP/d1 level, FIAP’s highest honour, which he was delighted to receive. We are grateful to have known and appreciated Martin and will miss him very much.
